Lycopodium is completing the detailed Track and Civil design for the expansion of the Werris Creek Freight Terminal.

After successfully completing stage one of the project, Lycopodium is completing the detailed Track and Civil design for the expansion of the Werris Creek Freight Terminal.

Located in the historic NSW railway town of Werris Creek just South of Tamworth, ARTC in conjunction with Crawfords Freightlines successfully revitalised the existing Werris Creek Yard. In 2019 Lycopodium assisted this partnership by developing the track and civil designs for the reconfiguration and re-purposing of a portion of the yard into the Werris Creek Freight Terminal. This re-purposing saw two sidings previously booked out of use reconditioned and extended to facilitate 900m of standing room with a dedicated hardstand.

To allow Crawfords greater efficiency in the terminal’s operation, ARTC has engaged Lycopodium to undertake the design of a further dedicated siding adjacent to their existing hardstand. This allows Crawfords to stage and load a 1270m consist.

Lycopodium’s scope was to undertake:

  • Concept Yard Rationalisation Designs
  • Field Investigations
  • Detailed and Issued for Construction Designs

The freight terminal was originally built in just 7 months and employs 25 people, over half of which are local.
