The project site is located approximately 510 km by road southwest of Ouagadougou, the capital city of Burkina Faso, close to the borders of Cote d’Ivoire and Mali.
The project comprised the greenfield development of an open cut mining operation, a processing facility and associated infrastructure to mine and process gold ore deposits.
The process plant itself comprises a SABC circuit followed by a conventional CIL process plant at an average LOM throughput rate of 2.5 Mtpa and up to 2.7 Mtpa during oxide ore campaigns.
Lycopodium completed a feasibility study for the process plant and infrastructure portions of the Wahgnion gold project and was subsequently awarded the EPCM of the conventional CIL process plant.
