The new facility included a mix tank, aseptic hold vessels, and the BFS machine in Class B cleanrooms, with three airlocks. The packing hall and service side of the BFS machine were Class C cleanrooms.
Lycopodium’s scope included:
- Full procurement services of writing scope of works, developing standard contracts, calling for tenders, tender evaluation and recommendations. Nine different contracts were let covering the different trades such as HVAC, building fabric, piping, doors, windows, coving, floor covering, PLC programming and electrical.
- Full-time construction management with constant site supervision of sub-contractors, this included all safety management activities, and sole responsibility for coordination of trades, from the nine subcontractors.
- The project brief was extended to include full engineering design services on all utilities, such as pharm air, clean steam, water for injection loops, and cooling water skids.
This was a very successful project which was completed on time, and on budget, despite being within the building envelope of a fully operational manufacturing facility. The project had no impact on other operations within the facility.
