Lycopodium provided the EPCM services for the construction of a plant to produce 50,000 TPA of Biodiesel (Methylester), based on technology provided by the Austrian Company, Biodiesel International.
The total project value was over $50M with Lycopodium’s capital cost totaling $42M. Lycopodium was responsible for the Australianisation of the process plant and the detailed design of civil works, buildings, roadworks, underground services, tank farm, loading, unloading, fuel blending facilities and utilities. Additionally, the services included management of the civil construction, the local fabrication of the piping, mechanical and electrical sub-contracts and the plant installation and commissioning assistance. The tank farm consists of 15 tanks, some site constructed, some of which are heated and some are nitrogen blanketed. The plant will convert feedstock, typically consisting of animal fat, (tallow) into the Biodiesel, which is suitable for use in conventional diesel engines without modification. The process is state of the art, computer controlled and produces a minimum of easily treatable effluent.
